Band

Welcome to the South Habersham Middle School Band Program!  The Band Programs at our county middle schools are some of their most important organizations and represent a large group of disciplined students.  We invite you and your family to participate and become invested in the SHMS band program.  Band is an activity that takes extra effort but yields great rewards.  We believe that through dedication, commitment, and teamwork, we can reach a high level of achievement together as we strive for a standard of excellence that is a blessing to students and audiences alike.

 

The main emphasis of the SHMS Band Program is to provide students with an enriching musical experience, to facilitate students in developing a level of musicianship that will enhance their quality of life and enable them to become lifelong lovers of quality music.

Students are placed in band classes during the school day to learn the fundamentals of reading music and playing a band instrument as well as performing music.  Outside-of-class rehearsals are necessary to put those various individual band classes together into a band ensemble that performs at concerts and festivals.  Students who progress in class are invited to perform with the CADET BAND (6th grade) or SYMPHONIC BAND (7th & 8th grade) throughout the year.
