SHMS Student Council

What is Student Council?

Student Council at South Habersham Middle School is a group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who want to learn about and participate in leadership activities while building communication skills with peers. Members of Student Council will work together to improve their school and their community. Members will be selected through an application, teacher recommendation, and interview process.  Ten students will be selected from each grade.

What will we do in Student Council?

Student Council responsibilities include day-to-day management of school needs such as morning announcements, fundraising activities, and sponsoring special school and community events in order to encourage participation in school activities and increase school spirit for the students of SHMS.

Who should apply?

Students who are interested in taking an active role in their school should apply.  These students should be responsible, creative, hardworking, and dependable.  They should also know that they will be role models for their peers and viewed as leaders in the school.  As with all extracurricular activities at school, academic success and positive behavior must be achieved and maintained in order to be a member of Student Council.
