Why is FFA a beneifical factor in the education of middle school students?

Middle school teachers and administrators emphasize that middle grade students need frequent hands-on activities and more team work with fewer individual activities than high school students. They point out that the energy and competitive spirit of students this age should be harnessed to maximize learning. FFA provides the type of learning experiences that most interest these students. Competitive team events and team work through projects provide a great opportunity to teach leadership and personal development. Many community and school projects may be undertaken by the local middle school FFA chapter. In addition, there are leadership activities available to middle school FFA members that are considered above the chapter level.

FFA activites above the chapter level include:

•Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event

•Floral Design Career Development Event

•Junior Public Speaking

•Livestock Exhibition which includes: goats, cattle, hogs and lambs

•Creed Speaking Event

Meetings

Will be scheduled each month and a calendar will be sent home.
